9 DAYS 8 NIGHTS TO THE REMOTE MOUNTAINS AND HALONG BAY IN NORTH VIETNAM
The landscape of North Vietnam is of legendary beauty, typified by the limestone mountains and their strange formations both inland and at sea in Ha Long bay. The hills are home to an incredible mosaic of ethnic minority people, many of whom have originated in China and we will meet these people dressed in their wonderful colours, on the trails, in villages and markets in a region bordering China. This is an area of stunning natural beauty, a mix of karst formations, stone forests, corn planted in seemingly inaccessible places and emerald rice terraces.
Day 3:Boat Trip On Ba Be Lake (B, L, D) After breakfast at the homestay,you and your guide must bid farewell to the Dao Tien people. You will go along trails to visit Nam Dai village and then continue through the forest to visit Dau Dang waterfall which borders two provinces Bac Kan and Tuyen Quang. Lunch will be in Mr Hien's restaurant, aka “Ba Be Pirate” then we take a boat trip up the river to visit Puong cave inhabited by thousands of bats of 18 species, and the site of many stalactites and stalagmites. The boat will go on the Nang river which runs right through the cave into Ba Be lake. After visiting the An Ma temple, you will return the lake-shore restaurant for dinner and overnight in the homestay.
Day 4: Ba Be Lake - Quang Yuen (B, L, D) Today we leave for Cao Bang, one of three frontier provinces with China. Near Na Phac we will walk through the fields taking the opportunity to study the farming methods of the Tay people. We will encounter along the way the Dao Tien with silver coins on their costumes. Over the road we climb the pass on Ma Phuc where the terrain is more mountainous. Lunch in Cao Bang then overnight in Nung house at Quang Uyen village. Day 5: Cao Bang - Ban Gioc Waterfall (B, L, D) This morning we will discover the waterfall at Ban Gioc regarded as the most beautiful waterfall in Vietnam. China is just on the other side of the waterfalls. After lunch, we will make an excursion on foot beside the river then explore “Tiger cave” famous for its silver columns. We will return to Cao Bang and overnight in a hotel.
Day 6: Cao Bang - Lang Son - Ha Long (B, L, D) We follow the famous Route Coloniale No. 4 famous for the battle in Dong Khe and That Khe during the First Indochina War. We arrive late afternoon in Lang Son, a border town between Vietnam and China. You will have free time to explore the market of Dong Kinh. We will drive through an area of green rice paddies to Ha Long Bay arriving in Bai Chay in the late afternoon. Overnight at Crown hotel.
Day 7: Ha Long Bay cruise (B, L, D) Enjoy a free morning until your tour guide picks you up. You will embark on our cruiser to enjoy a sumptuous lunch and cruise further through the limestone islands of Fighting Cock, Dog Rock and Incense Burner. In the late afternoon, you will explore Amazing cave, one of the most lovely caves in the bay. Then it is time to swim or relax on the sundeck with some drinks and the sea view. Before dinner is served, you can join in a brief Vietnamese cooking course on board and enjoy some free wine. Overnight on board in a tranquil area. (Evening activities available: night squid fishing, karaoke, dancing…) Day 8: Ha Long bay - Lan Ha bay (B, L, D) You may see your first sunrise in the bay followed by breakfast, ready for a cruise to Lan Ha bay. If you fancy adventure activities, there is rock climbing on Moody’s Beach (or optional kayaking) and on Hai Pai Beach (optional kayaking) will also available. However if you want to enjoy the beauty of Van Boi beach, Ba Cat beach, you can relax there and leisure kayak around the Lan Ha bay. In the late afternoon, you go back on board to enjoy dinner and some activities like partying, fishing or just lazing. Overnight on board. Day 9: Ha Long bay - Hanoi (B, L) Remote mountains and Halong Bay, amazing cave You may wish to go early morning swimming or take even more photos. After having breakfast, you could enjoy more kayaking and then visit Luon cave for swimming. Following that, you can visit Titop Island to enjoy the panoramic view of Halong Bay or just relax and swim at the beach. You will never forget your experience in Ha Long bay and after heading back to the Harbour you will say goodbye to cruiser. You will arrive Hanoi by about 5:00 pm.
