A Skippered Yacht Charter, is usually a Bareboat Charter with the addition of professional, local, Skipper, who takes complete responsibility for the safety of the yacht, navigation, and all aspects of the sailing & mooring. Also some Sailboats, Catamarans & Luxury Motoryachts, too large to be available for Bareboat charter, but a little cramped for a full compliment of crew, are often only available with a full time Skipper, with the option of hiring a hostess/cook/chef if space allows.

You need no qualifications for a sailing holiday aboard a Skippered yacht rental, though even for an experienced sailor, a Skippered Yacht can be a relaxing and interesting way of exploring new cruising grounds. The skippers are more than happy to act as your personal guide, when afloat, and show you many secluded bays and anchorage's often unknown to most tourists. He will listen to your wishes regarding where you want to visit, and do his best to accomodate these, subject to weather conditions. You will enjoy learning to sail the boat yourself, even if inexperienced, with the reassurance of a professional at hand.

Good reasons to book a charter with a Skipper are:

1. You don't have the required skippers qualifications, you're unsure of your sailing skills, or your handling of the particular boat you need to charter (the boat needs to be bigger than you are used to).

2. Your sailing skills are fine, but the rest of your sailing party are inexperienced so you cannot count on any help whatsoever.

3. You want to go sailing in a new area, and you would feel more comfortable taking your first charter there with a knowledgeable skipper, who, incidentally, would also act a tourist guide and an interpreter. This is particularly true in the Mediterranean & Adriatic where there are many historical or archeological sites to discover.

4. You came to the conclusion that, once you add all the extras for a nice resort, in a breathtaking location, and if you share the boat cost with 1 or 2 other couples, a skippered yacht charter is less expensive than a stay at a good resort, but much more fun.
