I travelled with Trans Nuigini Tours and it was a big disappointment for many reasons.
1 - Security : Port Moresby is a very unsafe location and we had half visit of the city and, except for the museum, it was impossible to get out of the bus. Also when we were in Tari, there was a local war between tribes. So you can see warriors with guns in the streets and you can also ear the gun shots. When we were there, some people were killed in the village and it was a very disturbing to be so closed to a local war and ear the guns. I think in that case and to avoid any 'lost bullet' : the company has to change the itinerary but they didn't. They have to remind that Machete-wielding men attacked a group of Australian and New Zealand tourists and killed 2 of them in 2013. So i don't recommend that company which took a risk with our group in Tari.
2 - Value for money : very poor ! The rates of Trans Nuigini Tours are very expensive and at the same level of a travel in Antarctica. The lodges and food were basic and there is nothing, except high margins, which can explain such expensive rates.
3 - Problem with my purchases : i bought few souvenirs and Trans Nuigini Tours proposed to send them to home free (except transport fees) and the rate was 200$ when i was there. So i accepted the deal and left my purchases there. After months, still no news of my purchases and i contacted them : the rate increased to 400 US $ ! and it was the value of the purchases so i refused specially because their offer was 200$. I contacted another transport company which proposes 150$ and i sent the information to PNG Tours. After they said i have to pay for Quarantine !!! and everybody know that if there is quarantine, it's done in the destination country according to local regulations. So now it makes 7 months i am waiting for my purchases and dozens of emails. So this company, despite their commitment for 200$, tried to scam me for the shipping of my purchases. And now they don't reply : so they are keeping my purchases and may be it's now in their shop. So they stole me and it's just unacceptable.
4 - They refused to send me my invoice : they requested a very small payment by credit card, but for the balance , they requested a transfer of thousands of euros to an account in Germany , which wasn't under the name of the company, and i have to see with my bank and my lawyer how i can get back the refund of my purchases.
5 - I will also contact the local authorities to request their help to be refunded of my purchases.
So there is many reasons to avoid that country and this company which is far to be honnest and safe for tourists.
