4-days-3-nights Discover Ba Be Lake and Ban Gioc waterfall

Ba Be can be described as a place of peace and serenity. This beautiful lake in the northern province of Bac Kan is listed as one of the world’s 20 largest freshwater lakes. Ban Gioc waterfall is the largest, although not the highest, in the country. The vertical is 53m, but it has an impressive 300m span; one end of the falls is in China, the other is in Vietnam.

Tour code: PRT 19E

Destination: Ba Be lake, Ban Gioc waterfall, Northeast, Vietnam.

Day 2: Ba Be Lake - Hua Ma cave - Quang Yuen

Day 3: Quang Yuen - Ban Gioc - Cao Bang

Day 4: Cao Bang - Ha Noi

Day 1 Ha Noi - Puong cave - Ba Be Lake (L, D)

You will be picked up early in the morning for the journey to Ba Be National Park, a drive of approximately 150 miles (230 kilometers). You will have the opportunity on the way to visit a Tay minority community, the second largest ethnic group in Vietnam after the Viets, known for rice farming. You will continue to Ba Be for a boat ride along the Nang River, with time to explore Ba Be Lake, the caves of Puong Grotto, and the tiny Widow Island. You can have a swim in crystal clear waters before you visit the stilt houses of the Tay community in Coc Toc Village, where you will spend the night in Mr Linh's Homestay.

Day 2 Ba Be Lake - Hua Ma cave - Quang Yuen (B, L, D)

After breakfast with your host family, your journey will start with a visit to Hua Ma, a dry cave with thousands of stalactites. You will travel around Ba Be lake by car, through the rain forest then leave Ba Be area, stopping for lunch in Cho Ra town. You will reach Quang Uyen, the frontier district which is inhabited mostly by the Nung ethnic minority people. They still retain their centuries old cultural traditions and are recognisably distinct from each other by their dress.

The remoteness and the simple lifestyle of the area’s local people are highlights of Quang Uyen. Living conditions are very basic here. Overnight in village

Day 3 Quang Yuen - Ban Gioc - Cao Bang (B, L, D)

A spectacular trip, today! We will take about 2 hours drive to visit Ban Gioc waterfalls, the highest and most spectacular in the area. Enjoy an imposing sight of Ban Gioc waterfalls and relax freely with plenty of time for photos. You will then visit Nguom Ngao “Tiger Cave” and we will continue to Cao Bang town for our overnight stay in Thanh Loan hotel.

Day 4 Cao Bang - Ha Noi (B, L)

Before departing Cao Bang, you may like to consider climbing the hill up to the War Memorial for a great panoramic view. The famous Highway 4 winds its way through steep mountain passes with spectacular vistas! Lang Son, the capital of this mountainous area, is an important crossing and trading route with Non Nuoc. The area is home to Dzao, Man, Tho and Nung ethnic minority groups. Lang Son has two markets, the Old Market and the Dong Kinh Market, where shoppers can find everything from electronics and gadgets to textiles and house wares. Just a couple of kilometres from town are two large, beautiful caves and the ruins of the Mac Dynasty Citadel which are worth a visit, time permitting. Tam Thanh Cave contains a small lake and offers great views of the surrounding farmlands. Nhi Thanh Cave, formed by the river that flows through it, has poems carved into the entrance by the man who discovered the cave in the 18th century. The late afternoon trip back to Hanoi from Lang Son is along a modern 4-lane divided highway. You will arrive at your hotel in Hanoi in late afternoon.
